Haunted Walrus
A downloadable newsletter
Haunted Walrus is a biweekly-ish newsletter and blog about tabletop game mechanics and narrative. It's written by me, Adam Bell, designer of games like Grasping Nettles & my brain is a stick of butter.
I'm a big fan of board games and the type of funky little roleplaying games that often get called "story games." I do a lot of thinking about the intersection in design of these two as I work on my own designs. It's great fun to ponder the types of narratives that naturally emerge from different board game mechanics and imagine what type of games you could make if you focused explicitly on telling a story with them instead of worrying so much about victory points and winning.
So that's the plan for Haunted Walrus! I'll take a peek at a mechanic and tease apart the types of stories it can facilitate. If that sounds good to you, subscribe using the link below or add the RSS feed to your favorite rss reader!
